Stand Oil

Stand Oil is a very heavy-bodied oil. It wets pigments well, producing paint with good flowing qualities, levels easily, and reduces brush marks. A more durable type of Linseed Oil, Stand Oil is partially polymerized by being heated in the absence of oxygen, thereby producing a longer drying time. It is, therefore, a good glazing medium. It also increases gloss and transparency.

A medium-viscosity polymerized oil suitable for glazing when thinned with rectified turpentine. It produces harder films with less tendency to yellow than linseed oil. When used sparingly (to minimize yellowing), it improves the fluidity and gloss of colors.
